Alo peoplez!
Happy New Year to everyone, I wish you all the best for you and your families/friends in 2017, as well as our 4th year that Big Sister has been operational!!! :)
And with the start of the New Year comes the long-overdue end of an era... and not a moment too soon, I feel.
Effective immediately, on January 1st, 2017, both Cayfie and I are stepping down as the Big Sister server owners, and will retire as Honourary Deputies. While I will still pay for the servers and assist with any kind of consulting, it is Hannah and Spookster that will succeed as the owners of Big Sister and Little Brother, and so they will handle all major decision-making, including staff management and server maintenance, going forward.
As for why I am retiring... it was always my intention to either close the server in 2017, or keep it active but retire as owner -- and as events unfolded, it became clear that the second scenario was going to happen. On top of that, I am simply tired... managing a Gulliver server is hard enough in itself, but add to that three years worth of a strict whitelisting, a large diligent staff to coordinate, plenty of projects, lots of players to interact with, MCEditing, and a whole lot of other technology (half of which was left untouched by me), and I'm, quite frankly, beyond exhausted. In fact, the last few months have seen me largely absent in my own server, preferring instead to socialize with staff and players on Discord, or engage in real life activities and hobbies...
In short, I can no longer be a robust Owner, and in many ways I never was the best Owner you could get {simply the only one who stepped up to the plate with a balanced approach]. Both Hannah and Spookie have demonstrated their incredible technical skills, social skills, loyalty and growth potential during these past three years, so I feel they are the best choice for a much-needed injection of young blood into our community. I will still be around of course, but I will watch from afar my vision come true -- you are all now self-sufficient, and I can sit back and relax as you do justice to our rich three-year heritage!
Thank you all for your wonderful support! I know you will make me very proud! <3
UPDATE: See? Hannah and Spookie are already astounding me with a new and improved server manifesto: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/189780982331736065/265031841713618944/2017.pdf

Three-Year Server Anniversary Address
Alo everyone!
"Time flies, when you're having fun, I heard somebody say..."
That's the opening to one of my favourite songs, and also a very fitting description for what's been another wonderfully-successful year! Seemingly out of nowhere, our little parallel server for Gunia's has morphed into a three-year juggernaut. As a game server, it remains a hold-out for Minecraft 1.6.4, a highly-stable Gulliver mod, and a world that respects people's hard work and dedication. And as a community server, it has essentially become a kind of second home to many of us. I have often said that should I need to shut down the server, our community will never die because it has essentially transcended the game server and can function without it, and I believe that's now true more than ever!
That being said, time to get all dolled up and deliver my traditional anniversary address!
This will be a shorter address than usual because, for all the good reasons, I feel that interest in the actual game portion of the Big Sister server has been waning in recent years, and I include myself in that thinking.
There's of course the obvious technical reasons... the fact that we never change is a double-edged sword; many of our players DO get bored and run off to newer servers or other games. That's a given and perfectly understandable -- and while many talented players and staff go to great lengths to continue pouring interesting new content into our server (and bless them for it), it will continuously lose effectiveness over time as the Gulliver mod ages (update hopes notwithstanding), Minecraft releases leave us further being, and players grow up. Under these circumstances, the game server ceases to be a play arena, and falls further and further into the role of museum, nostalgia trip, hobby center, and interactive chat room.
And yet, THIS IS A GOOD THING!
I would be worried if, even after all these years, players continued to cram in here, spending countless hours (and potential study/work/sleeping time) building convoluted creations or engaging in immortal roleplays. The fact that this is NOT the case... that instead, activity on the server has become much more strategic, and we now spend 85% of our time on the Discord server rather than on Big Sister, Little Brother or the forums... proves to me that people change. They grow up, evolve, move on, improve, get better... they are not all static entities, but living, breathing human beings behind the avatars with changing life circumstances that need more of their attention over time. Therefore, the decrease of play activity is a fact that should be CELEBRATED and encouraged, regardless of how counter-intuitive it sounds -- and that's because I want my server to be populated by PEOPLE, not player counts!
So that being said, we lasted three years this way... but can it last four years?
I would say yes...
...But that's probably as far as it can go, and we should seriously look into gracefully winding down in 2017, and closing up shop before the server renewal on January 2018, at which point the Big Sister world, and Little Brother, will be packaged up, archived, and freely available to download for anyone interested in opening their own Big Sister mirrors, or just owning their pieces of server history. Financially it would no longer make sense for me to keep a living museum going for five years when it might hardly get visited; and morally, I feel it's important for things we hold dear to have proper closure, allowing them to go out with a bang rather than a weak fizzle into obscurity. I have seen many of you grow up, mature, improve, and even claim the server experience has helped you tremendously in life (and I'll include myself here too) -- and as such, all of you deserve the right to move on to a clean slate and a new experience, rather than to have the old experience devolve into a kind of emotional anchor. In other words, tap into some very over-played lyrics...
As I said earlier, doing this won't have the same impact as it might have two or three years ago. Aside from many of us growing out of Minecraft, we have also grown a lot more social and a lot better connected. A year ago I was still an enigma to all but a select few; but now most of you can just reach out to me with a flick of a keyboard or the mic,... always good for those crucial midnight food questions (woo!!). We talk together, we sing together, we draw together, we play other games together, we watch movies together, we trade recipes together, we learn mod-making together, we vent to each other, we encourage ourselves to take life-changing leaps of faith (such as with your's truly), and recently we've even been able to help with homework together! We are now, without a doubt, a true community; and communities are destined to last a LOT longer than game servers. Even if we should eventually disperse, friendships have good lasting power! ^^
Now this is where I normally would offer a cool new feature on the server or some fundamental change to make my handling of things better,... but seeing as how Year 4 may be our last, I don't think this is prudent anymore (besides which there hasn't been much time for me to work on anything, lol). But if there is anything I CAN promise for the coming year, it's that I promise to be more of a human being, enjoying more of my real life as well as our cool social community, leveraging many of my lessons learned here to restart RL efforts to return to social media. I feel myself increasingly-cured of the soul ailments that made me do what I did three years ago (of which I have many of you to thank!), as well as much more eager to forgive those transgressions as they did ultimately bring us together. It's through that forgiveness and growth that I can accept the past for what it was,... a hard road to my exceptional present ripe with great opportunities for tomorrow... and let it go gracefully with the respect it deserves.
In my mind, both the server and Ciabatta (as her character) are great metaphors for my own personal ascendance; it's my hope that many of you can claim the same as well, and can also look back on these three years with warmth, fondness, gratitude and accomplishment.
More than ever, and from the bottom of my heart... thank you!

Congratulations Commissioner Spitfire!
It is my pleasure to congratulate Spitfire for his promotion to the rank of server Commissioner after his long-standing contributions as server Deputy!
Like several before him, Spitifre had a rocky start on his journey across the space and time of our server community. Brash and reckless, with an over-eagerness to roleplay and bring along a colourful assortment of friends (many of whom had to be heavily vetted before being whitelisted), it was hard to imagine us being less than on-our-guard in his (and his posse's) presence. He had the experience of being a former server admin, but this worked against him for a while as he was vocally TOO confident in getting a leadership position, to the point of making himself ineligible. Even so, he was a talented builder, a fantastic socializer, and fairly level-headed and humble -- and these attributes, over the course of many months after, would slowly brew interest in his abilities enough to finally grant him a Deputy position.
As a deputy his experience was definitely made manifest and then some. Even as his friend group declined in participation and started leaving the server never to return, he was still steadfast and loyal to our group and continued on as often as he could. He is very helpful and friendly to new players, and will help them build houses and towns even with his limited abilities. He lends his server experience and investigative skills to any projects or searches that require a great attentio to detail. And like any good Deputy, he listens carefully to advice and is willing to grow as a person, and learn new things, despite [or because of?] being an older player.
I know for many of you Spit has also been an incredible friend for extra-server activities, and for that I appreciate his ability to extend his cheer far and wide in places I can't possibly follow in; for this reason and more, I feel he's finally demonstrated enough integrity as a Deputy to merit an expanded set of powers and responsibilities as a server Commissioner. May he continue to aid the server as an experienced resource, a valuable friend, and a constant reminder to never judge a book by its cover!
Spit was voted in through a parliamentary-style staff election featuring an excellent 83% voter turnout, with 12 votes in favor and two abstains due to unavailability!
I want to thank all staff who participated in giving Spit such a superb vote of confidence, as well as all players who have helped make him the fun and remarkable staff member he is today!

Congratulations Moderator Liz [and Welcome Back Commissioner Jammy]!
Hello all!
It is my pleasure to congratulate Liz for her promotion to the rank of server Moderator after her remarkable and long-standing contributions as server Deputy and Commissioner, as well as a great friend to many of you!
If anyone needed proof that the old adage "slow and stead wins the race" is true, one need only look to Liz. From her humble beginnings as an honourary "Bread Knight" [a kind of proto-Deputy], to her unwavering spirit and loyalty as a Deputy and Commissioner, she was able to do much for the server with very little in terms of presence or flash or special needs. She may be quiet and unassuming, but she still helps fellow staff members when they were in trouble, rallied to the creation of application reviews and server TODO's, and is always open and responsive to requests and questions. She has a very open mind and refuses to let immature, scary or unacceptable behaviour phase her, instead opting for quiet brandishing of authority that puts idiocy in the quiet corner it belongs in! Nothing phases her, she is highly talented, she accepts honest critique with a calm nobility, she can be friendly or firm as needed, she is responsible in balancing the needs of work, home and play, and she always does so without impeding the work of her fellow staff members or myself. That she was one of my loyal Bread Knights is very fitting as, in the end, the most noble, patient and "knightly" of the group stands before you on the brink of a well-deserved ascension to my most trusted position.
I hereby proudly request that Liz be offered the opportunity to become a Moderator on our server, and join the elite cadre of staff members entrusted with limitless access to the very heart and soul of our server. Already she has been very Moderator-like, so this is purely a formality to recognize the respect and trust she has gained from all of us!
Liz was voted in through a parliamentary-style staff election featuring a respectable 81% voter turnout, with 11 votes in favor and two abstains due to unavailability!
I want to thank all staff who participated in giving Liz such an enthusiastic vote of confidence, as well as all players who have helped make her the remarkable staff member she is today!
Lastly, due to the Commissioner shortage, Jammy has decided to come out of Deputy-retirement and return as a Commissioner to join her friend. No application is necessary since she stepped down voluntarily, she is able to return to full Commissioner function effective immediately.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BOTH OF THEM!!!

Congratulations Moderator Kacii!
Hello all!
It is my pleasure to congratulate Kacii for her promotion to the rank of server Moderator after her incredibly fun and stable contributions as server Deputy and Commissioner, as well as great friend and RP partner to many of you!
Although Kacii has proven to be a phenomenal Commissioner, displaying a vast array of positive traits including approachability, reliability and loyalty, there is one underlying trait that I think embodies her most important contribution to its server, its staff and its players: stability. Even through some of her most difficult years, encountering many challenges both in-game and real-life, being exposed to countless different players of all shapes and sizes, and participating in all manner of activity, from the casual roleplay to the most harrowing WorldControl edit, she has never faltered in her core values. She is still friendly, approached, reliable, loyal, and committed to upholding the responsibilities entrusted in her. She has taken failure gracefully and learned from them, and has grown stronger and more confident as a result of her experiences in this role of responsibility.
Kacii has come a tremendously-long way from her humble origins as a brave and spirited, but humble player, completely ambivalent and disinterested in administrative matters. Even up until recently, she was perfectly happy to remain Commissioner in perpetuity, perfectly content with the stable position it offered as a median point between a player and close-confidante to the Owners. It was only when she genuinely felt confident and ready to ascend that she took the bold step to accept my invitation; and it's that care and attention to detail that cements her as a truly reliable and stable member of our staff, demonstrating a calm and mature wisdom that belays her age by a few decades.
I hereby proudly proclaim that Kacii has been offered the opportunity to become a Moderator on our server, and join the elite cadre of staff members entrusted with limitless access to the very heart and soul of our server. I have no doubt that she will be nothing less than a rock solid pillar of support for a long time to come! Thank you very much!

Mandatory Server Donations
I'M POOR!!!
YOU'RE ALL EATING ME OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME!!! XD
With the server fees for both Big Sister and Little Brother totaling to about 1/100000000th of what I earn each year, I'm basically out on the street and eating leftover cat food or dog food just to substitute. And it's not even GOOD cat or dog food... it's some crappy cheapo brand full of wheat... I mean who in the HELL thought feeding carnivores some kibble full of wheat, other grains and starchy vegetables was a good idea?! Especially since they lack the means to probably digest this stuff?!! XD
And GAWD, I'm so poor now, I make silly tangents about pet food! Everyone should BOW THEIR HEADS IN SHAME for making me stoop this low! Come on! Each and every one of you! Bow your heads in shame! Yep! Yes, you! The person reading this very serious April Fools Day blog post! Get off the screen, get on the floor, and grovel for forgiveness! I'll wait till you're done,so I can stand up, strike a haughty pose, and pardon you condescendingly for the CRIME of making me run a Minecraft server. XD
Luckily, I've come up with a solution that will benefit no one but me!! :D
I will henceforth require ALL players -- including inactive players and failed applicants -- to make mandatory donations in order to keep this smelly old server alive! My only job here is to relax, sit back, and let everyone run the server for me, so why should "I" have to PAY to do all this work?!! It's time to get all you little misers and lazy bums to pony up! >v<
But don't worry... I am a merciful person, and I always make sure to provide tieredunfair advantages "benefits" to make it worth your while to donate more and possibly help me turn a profit... even though none of these unfair advantages "benefits" cost me a single penny, and I'm sure I might be breaking the Minecraft EULA, but whatevs! Here they are from lowest tier to highest (priced in USD):
Please note that theseunfair advantages "benefits" aren't cumulative, so if, for example, you want the puppy and the commemorative plaque, you must sell us your home and give us $1,000,000. It's only fair after all. ^^

Little Brother Now Features Minecraft 1.9
Alo peoplez!
Well not really news if you've been paying attention to the forum, but ever since the Monthly Mod Flavors have been retired from Little Brother, it is customary to have it feature Minecraft snapshots instead. And now that Minecraft 1.9 is officially out, we're having it as the permanent "mod" on Little Brother from now on.. or at least till the next batch of Vanilla snapshots arrive. ^^
Note that it is still technically a test server so don't get overly attached to creations in it as Little Brother is not actively as supported or backed-up as Big Sister; and since there is no Forge for Minecraft 1.9, its Dynmap is currently disabled. However, unlike with the Mod Flavors, you're bound to have a MUCH more consistent experience playing here on this semi-permanent Vanilla server. If you need a taste of modern Minecraft, a break from the hustle and bustle of Big Sis, or just want a little peace and quiet, Little Brother will always be here to serve as a kind of "summer cottage" for our players. :)
The Little Brother IP can be found on the Guide tab above... there is no need to apply for a separate whitelist if you're already a player on Big Sister. [unless you're new and I forget to whitelist you, in which case remind me on the forum] ^^;

Congratulations Commissioner Kacii
Hello all!
It is my pleasure to congratulate Kacii for her promotion to the rank of server Commissioner after her superb run as our server Deputy!
Kacii's story is one of persistence and expectations. I've known Kacii for a VERY long time, and have seen AND heard about her exploits going back as far back as the early days of Gunia's server. Although young, she was a player of vast presence, with a strong spirit, an independent flair, a personal sense of justice, and a frequent hunger for conversation and roleplay. She reminded me a bit of our old staff member Ajjget, but with a rock-solid stability about her that always made her desirable as a potential staff member.
She was SO desirable, in fact, that she always turned down initial requests for a Deputy spot, or simply never expressed much interest in being anything other than a player of the people; and for the longest time remained rather aloof of any prospects of advancement in the server. Despite befriending many of us, occasionally volunteering for citizen whitelist reviews, and standing up to bad players and bullies on the server, she simply wanted to remain fiercely independent as a player. It was an admirable trait, so I personally had to respect that even as I shelved any prospect of ever seeing her even as a Deputy... and more so after she finally formally declined an official offer by Mimi to become a Deputy. She would forever remain as one of the greatest players we ever had (and a good sport for chicken-related humor), and that commitment is certainly paid a homage to in my April Fool's 2015 article. ^^
But then... a miracle happened! I'm not sure if our culture finally crept up on her, or she grew older, or her ambitions changed, or what not... but suddenly, and during a very opportune time when we needed help, she was ready to agree to Mimi's proposal! It was a happy day for all of us when she finally agreed to become Deputy! And she has taken up this mantle with fierce devotion, a curious attention to detail, a willingness to help in various circumstances, and an increased confidence in her open communication with the rest of the staff members and myself (whereas once upon a time she seemed almost afraid to talk to me). She has been a remarkable Deputy, and has never been shy of taking up tasks that belie her young age, only seeking help from other staff members or myself when absolutely necessary! All her best traits from before as a fantastic player have been amplified several times fold, and she truly demonstrates her Gulliver Minecraft server experience and boundless potential to the team every day!
She has been a great friend to many of us, a phenomenal story-teller to all the uninitiated players wanting to know more about our little community, and a proud guardian to those even younger and vulnerable than herself -- and I feel absolutely privileged to have such a talented person on my team! Now that she's the best she can be as a Deputy, and proved herself to be an individual trustworthy of greater powers, I feel it's only fitting to direct her potential further by nominating her to a Commissioner position. May her new privileges and responsibilities allow her to explore new avenues of personal growth, as she continues being a great keeper of our community's proud history, legacy and future!
Kacii was voted in through a parliamentary-style staff election featuring an incredible 94% voter turnout, with 16 votes in favor and one abstain due to unavailability!
I want to thank all staff who participated in giving Kacii such an enthusiastic vote of confidence, as well as all players who have helped make her the remarkable staff member she is today!

You Have Now Entered... The Twilight Zone
Alo peoplez!!
We have, in a way, two Thanksgiving presents to offer the server! ^.^
#1: The ENTIRE map of the expanded world has now been explored!!! You can go ahead and visit our Dynmap to see the entire map all pristine and clear! Special thanks to all of you who helped explore all the unloaded chunks, especially Lomgren who was at it for weeks! ^.^
http://bigsister.mcserver.ws:8123/#
#2: We now have a converted Twilight Forest area imported into Big Sister!! Many of you wanted to visit the modded Twilight Forest, but without being able to do that... I figured it would be better (and cooler) to... BRING TWILIGHT FOREST TO US!!! It took about two weeks to scout out a good area and then make all the necessary block conversions to make the map accessible to 1.6.4; and there are still many more things to tweak to make the area truly shine. But it's here, and it's public land so you can do whatever you'd like in this new Twilight Forest National Park! From claiming a Mushroom Palace room as a home, to building roads through the thorn bushes, to harvesting the mysterious Cheese Mushrooms!
As far as how to get there... There is a TP at Spawn atop a very OBVIOUS Twilight Forest feature that's been on our server forever, and which has has limited use... till today. Hope you don't mind a little climb and some leaves in your hair. :P
No worries about having to shrink or be normal-sized to get to this teleporter, as there is a resizer over at the Twilight Forest landing area now. Future teleporters may be built, as well as a road/bridge to here that will be created atop some future imported islands.
Have fun!!! :)

New World Border
Hello all,
Consider this a belated anniversary present, but I have officially abandoned the Ark initiative of building within a limited 7000x7000 block area, and created a new physical World Border that stretches from x-8192 z-8192, to x8192 z8192, offering a full usable world size of 32x32 square Regions (with each Region composed of 32x32 Chunks). This is VERY big, and offers twice or thrice as much growth opportunity compared to the Ark.. and although a lot of this area is water, this may change soon as oceans offer prime real estate for imports from other mods.
Effective immediately, all users can now build past the original Ark border, and are free to explore, mine, found towns or pave roads up to the glass world border (which can't be traversed anyway). All preexisting towns and structures that were built past the Ark are now official and can be left in place. I encourage all users to explore as much of this new world as possible to help us see how much our home has expanded.
Thank you!

Two-Year Server Anniversary Address
Alo everyone!
I promised a two-year anniversary address, and I am happy to deliver... even if it's not as punctual as I expected (but hey, it's still within the weekend celebration! So once more, time to get all dressed up for this....
Two years... just writing it doesn't do much justice to the magnitude of this accomplishment. We have literally survived, and thrived, for TWO years, and this when many Minecraft servers barely survive two months, others two weeks. The longest-lasting Gulliver server, our parent server [Gunia's Gulliver Server], endured for 1.5 years; knowing this, I'm happy to preserve the adage that "no parent should outlive their child". And all this without ever resetting our world map (destroying everyone's investment of time, love and talent), ever losing sight of where we came from (preserving the memory of Dravic's, Gunia's, Skyscraper's and others), without ever going back on our core principles. In this we succeeded on what we set out to do... be a rock-solid center of stability for those who can call our server a virtual home.
Often when I'm working from home, and have various machines turned on at my desk, I will have my Chromebook turned on with Steam and Gmail, always ready to respond to emergencies. Since nowadays that's almost a rarity, what with brilliant staff members ready and willing to respond in my place, I also have Dynmap open as well, in it's gorgeous 3D isometric mode. It is in these rare instances, when I need to take a quick break from the brutal onslaught of paid obligations, that I scan our world, in part longing to be down there playing with you guys or building a road/bridge, but in larger part simply gasping in awe and admiration to all our crowning achievements. Even if it's not a very large server, just the overwhelming amount of detail is mind-blowing. We have many cities, towns and villages, all different and unique and worth the long trek to explore. We have a sprawling road network interconnecting most of them, and ever-growing with each passing day, like web of a vast kingdom of spiders. We have furnishings and gardens, dungeon quests and markets,... you can ride roller coasters or storm an Overworld nether fortress, or roleplay in a giant school, or simply relax with a finely brewed cup of coffee at a local SpookJams. And above all, we have such a colorful and wonderful assortment of people there to make it all possible... and not just that, but make it worthwhile to visit, mingle, and help things grow bigger, better, more fun, more detailed, more brilliant and clever, and astonishingly alive!
I don't believe there are any words to describe how thankful, and proud, I am of all of you for helping us get to this milestone, and in such an incredible state! I would not have imagined it early on, but I am forever-grateful that it became our reality!
I may not have much to offer for the anniversary this year due to time constraints (although some of my staff were gracious enough to throw a few server parties in my place), but I feel that a very important thing I can do for you all is to correct some wrongs I've been doing for the last two years....
==========
1) I have up until now refused to call you a "community".
While I'm a sucker for semantics, I feel nonetheless that you have all worked so hard and have done so much, and have looked after each other so well, that it would be nothing less than insulting to call it anything else than a "community". Through your efforts, you HAVE built a community out of something meant to be long obsolete... how is it that we can still be stuck in Minecraft 1.6.4, ever surrounded by newer and more amazing games, and yet you still return here to spend time with your fellow players and friends, or outside on the forum or Steam? I feel it is because when people care enough about each other to band together as an ever-interacting group, they begin to establish their own identity and culture, from which they can thrive no matter what the circumstances or how th environment is. In essence, we created a community... and just like with ideas of reincarnation, the body (the server) may be corporeal and may not always last forever, but the spirit (the community) is in a way immortal, and can transcend in ways we never thought possible.
So I want to thank you all not just for making this the best server I have ever had the pleasure of playing in, but the best online community I have ever known.
2) I have either willingly or unwillingly used my server as a soapbox.
Now granted I have already done a lot in recent months to turn this around, but it begs repeating for those of you who have known me for a lot longer. While I have benefited a lot from what I've learned during my time here -- and no day goes by when I'm thankful for having discovered [in the most unlikeliest of places] the real world salvation to some of my person ills -- I have had to come to accept that this will not work for everyone, as not everyone suffers from the same thing, or exactly the same way, or benefit from my own unique circumstances that allowed me to help myself. I'm also not a doctor or parent or psychiatrist or even that much of a friend in the truest definition of the word, so really and truly I possess no reason at all for anyone to listen to me. All I have is my rank as server owner, a fake position of authority, but still an "authority" nonetheless -- this may compel some people to either pay me lip-service to gain favor, or worse, it may cause other people to indeed be swayed or manipulated in ways that could potentially make a bad situation in their circumstance worse.
While I wholeheartedly believe in learning and asking questions, I admit that I would often find myself doing more "telling" than anything, and for that I'm sorry. You all deserve a chance to find your own answers the way I did -- and while I'm always happy to share my knowledge and experience, remember that it's just one of many millions and billions of different viewpoints yet to be uncovered by you.
3) I have been trying too hard to find my replacement.
As I mentioned in my first-year address, I did not seek the position I have willingly, it was all just a string of accidents that turned me into a server owner. And I have spent almost the entirety of the two years looking for someone to replace me -- someone I could entrust the safety of the server and it's players too. Someone kind-hearted and crafty, but firm and courageous when it's necessary. Someone proactive and willing to learn, with superb communication coming from a drive towards extroversion. Someone who has no qualms with leading, has few personal issues to impair her ability to be on the server, and who had no problems inspiring others to help her. And yes, I really REALLY wanted this new co-owner to be a girl for reasons only I can truly understand.
Alas, many would-be candidates over the years came and went, and I grew more and more miserable as disappointment after disappointment left me more and more "trapped" as the server owner. Then the last candidate that I had, one so wonderful and honest in her appreciation of me and my efforts, and who I can now truly call a friend, was humbled by my offer but politely refused it. It's thanks to her that I realized two things: a) I was setting impossible requirements in large part because, b) deep down inside I did not want to wish this hardship on others. Despite what it seems, I am not in an enviable position, and being owner has taken its tolls on my time, money, and emotions in more ways than I could have expected. To simply pass all this on to some other unsuspecting person and let her suffer with it, while I go off and vanish from the responsibility, ultimately struck me as just as cowardly as it sounds.
Eventually I came to the decision to abandon the search for my replacement, and to enjoy the remainder of my time here as the unwilling but happy owner of a server I once wanted to give away and now love with all that I have. I will eventually step down to pursue other real life interests, but I won't expect a Cia 2.0 to run things for me -- if the server is to continue, it will be run as a team of caring people who can all more efficiently share the burden and the rewards.
And lastly,...
4) I have spent a lot of time looking for validation.
I have been told on at least a few occasions that I, either willingly or unwillingly, constantly seek praise and fulfillment from others. Certainly it's not lost on me that when I log into the server I can quickly become the center of attention, and often times I've interrupted a good RP or building session as a result. I talk a lot, sometimes too much, and the screen can very easily be drowned in a torrent of green, yellow and purple from all the name tags in there. I insert myself in a lot of staff decision-making, and I'm always eager to have people ask (or challenge?) me with questions. I constantly yearn for interaction, sometimes even to the point of being pushy. And I won't lie, part of me enjoys having someone look up to me -- even though I have no shortage of this in real life, it's still a remarkable feeling that I look for.
But in my defense, praise has been one of the few drivers that keeps me going. I cannot open myself to the community, I cannot discuss what I do on the server with real life friends and family, I cannot do much writing or drawing anymore, I cannot talk to people about my passions (usually food or health) as freely as I used to, I cannot offer to help as freely as I used to, I do not have the desire to play other games, I can't follow you all with all these fancy social media technolgies, and I don't even have as much interest in Minecraft as I used to. Despite how things seemed during the past two years, it has been astonishingly-lonely for me most of the time, and of course under these circumstances even a little "thank you" makes it all feel worth it.
Have I probably gone a little overboard? I'm sure I've had, and that's what I hope to fix on the road to our three-year anniversary. But I will never stop loving you all for sharing your heartfelt appreciation, such as on my birthday when so many beautiful hand-made letters literally made me cry with grateful joy. There is a reason I don't accept donations... an honest "thank you" is worth more to me than all of Notch's Microsoft money, that's just how I am both as this symbol you have grown to like and adore, and as a person. If there is anything I definitely need to improve on, though, it's in thanking myself, as I never give myself credit for being unique, generous and special -- and perhaps if I did more searching within, I wouldn't have to rely so much on searching throughout.
==========
And that's about it, and I hope this rare bit of honesty was more enlightening than off-putting to at least the vast majority of readers. ^^
Now please excuse me if I do a little copy-pasta, but I really did like what I wrote last year in conclusion, and I feel it aged nicely, with a few updates...
Thank you very much to everyone who has helped make this anniversary possible, from my friend Cayfie who got me started in this, and my friend Hannah who has helped me get through this. To UncleMion who wrote this wonderful mod, and to Gunia who intentionally-or-not helped bring most of us together back in the early days. To all my dear staff, past and present, who have given their best, put up with my eccentricities, been my friends and supporters during times of need or plenty, protected the peace and security of our server, and who represent the very future of our server. And of course, to all my dear players, who spread the word far and wide, who give us their hard-earned time and admiration, who showcase their gorgeous art and creations, and who help make us truly a unique and inviting place that I am happy and proud to visit every day.
May we all celebrate this occasion again at least one more time next year!

Two years ago on October 15th, 2013, our server was born... not as Big Sister, mind you, but as the "Sister Server" for Gunia's Gulliver Server. For the uninitiated, you can read my old anniversary address here...
http://ciabatta-breadalot.blogspot.com/2014/10/one-year-server-anniversary-address.html
I expect to write a two-year anniversary address in the coming days (so long as I get a break from work), but for now I want to thank everyone for keeping us going strong for two years, the longest that a Gulliver Minecraft server of our size has been in operation! I also want to officially mark the start of our Anniversary Weekend, a few days of server and forum festivities stretching from Thursday, October 15th to Sunday, October 18th! I look forward to seeing how we wish our dear server a happy birthday!
Cheers!

Congratulations Moderator Hannah
Hello all!
It is my pleasure to congratulate Hannah for her promotion to the rank of server Moderator after her remarkably-successful and gloriously-fun term as server Deputy and Commissioner!
Hannah needs no introduction for many of you... once a shy girl barely able to speak, she now constantly communicates, mingles and engages with so many of you, including myself. Once plagued with an array of insecurities about her own abilities, now she has no qualms with stretching beyond her ever-expanding comfort zones. Once paralyzed with fear even to ask a simple question, now she regularly delegates or gets the information she needs to finish a task. Once interested in nothing more than to be small, invisible and inconsequential, now she makes her presence known and trusted. Once plagued by a variety of ailments, she eventually saved herself through the power of her own remarkable listening, as well as a bravery she still rarely acknowledges she has. And above all else, she had the strength of character and responsibility to withhold from this advancement for some time now, until she herself felt ready and capable to live up to new expectations.
In short, I can't help but feel very proud of Hannah, and I hope she is or will be just as proud of her accomplishments. More than a loyal and trusting staff member, Hannah is a pupil, colleague and now a dear friend who will do what it takes to keep us safe, happy and appreciated.
I hereby proudly request that Hannah be offered the opportunity to become a Moderator on our server, and join the elite cadre of staff members entrusted with unfettered access to the very heart and soul of the server. Thank you very much!
Hannah was voted in through a parliamentary-style staff election featuring a respectable 82% voter turnout, with 14 votes in favor and three abstains due to unavailability!
I want to thank all staff who participated in giving Hannah such an enthusiastic vote of confidence, as well as all players who have helped make her the remarkable staff member she is today!

Welcome Moderator Spookie!!!
Hello all!
It is my pleasure to congratulate Spookie for his promotion to the rank of server Moderator after his very successful and productive term as server Deputy and Commissioner!
Spookster, or Spookie as we affectionately call him, is all but a household name on the server. Having embraced all the special tools and technologies availabe to a Commissioner, such as World Control and NBTEdit, has allowed him to truly flourish as a creative mind and enhancer of the player experience. Many an adventurous player has gushed over the swash-buckling adventures of his dungeon quests, which improves and far surpasses anything I could have ever accomplished in my own prototype quest. He is an avid renovator and continues his quest with improving and repurposing neglected or abandoned sites on the server. And most of all, he's been a good friend to many, a stalwart defender of the server, an excellent application writer, and a loyal, patient and dedicated staff member; that he associates himself with a dog is only fitting as dogs are likewise intelligent, loving and loyal companions. Whatever indiscretions he may have committed in the past in his long journey and evolution to this point have all been forgotten and forgiven as he has proved his worthiness of our respect and admiration time and time again.
I hereby proudly propose that Spookie be offered the opportunity to be a Moderator on our server, and join the elite cadre of staff members entrusted with unfettered access to the very heart and soul of the server. Thank you.
Spookie was voted in through a parliamentary-style staff election featuring a whopping 94% voter turnout, with 15 votes in favor and one abstain due to unavailability!
I want to thank all staff who participated in giving Spookie such an enthusiastic vote of confidence, as well as all players who have showered him with much deserved praise and camaraderie!

Livin' La Vida Loca
Hello all!
Well TerraFormaCraft ended up being a roaring success... for about a week and a half. After which interested thinned out once it became apparent that a) clay was very hard to get, b) metallurgy is HARD (>v<), c) the extra food is more tedious than fun, d) THOSE DAMN SPIDERS!!, and e) the entire world looks the same. I think that really wasn't what I was expecting, so let's not do that again... XD
Anyway, perhaps it's time to return to our roots? After all, we now have lots of new players who've never known about last year's flavors, and it's not right for them to miss out on some old fun. So this month, we're reviving a bit of the Stayin' Alive flavor from April 2014... ^^
http://ciabatta-breadalot.blogspot.com/2014/05/stayin-alive.html
We'll see the return of fan-favorite Minecraft Comes Alive, as well as my personal favorite of Mo' Creatures (yay, elephants!); a new and improved Mo' Villages also makes a return, serving as a great compliment to MCA. CustomNPCs couldn't make it this time since it really isn't enjoyable for non-opped players -- sorry ol' friend, maybe next time. ^^
But NEW to this month's flavor are the additions of the fun Morph mod so you can transform into your favorite mob or animal (YAY! ELEPHANTS!!), Mr. Cray's Furniture Mod (to make MCA more "Sims"-like), and a new exciting addition to Little Brother... the Chocolate Quest mod (for dungeon-exploring, volcano-sieging, swash-buckling adventure)!!! I don't even think I can post a picture of chocolate in such an action-packed light, but... I'll try... XD
So anyway, I'm pleased to officially announce a whole collection of fun mods for the July Flavor of Little Brother!
And that's it!
It might be a little complicated installing so many mods, but rest assured that adventure and digital socialization and morphing into bunnies awaits!!! So go nuts! XD

Well not quite the same, but that's still a pretty fun movie to watch. >v<
So anyway, I'm pleased to officially announce a whole collection of fun mods for the July Flavor of Little Brother!
Here are the details of this month's flavor:
For Installation:
- This is using Minecraft 1.7.10, and Forge 10.13.2.1291.
- We will have a collection of various mods in this release, specifically: Minecraft Comes Alive, Mo' Creatures, Mo' Villages, Morph Mod, Cray's Furniture mod and Chocolate Quest.
- The map is vanilla-generated.
- Flammole and InvisibleDragon continue to be the permanent moderators.
- HannahShy will assume the role of Monthly Moderator for this month.
- Difficulty is set to "Hard Mode" to see some of the finer Mo' Creatures critters. :)
- A Dynmap is employed with this flavor, although it is using an Alpha build so block fidelity may not be perfect.
For Installation:
- Create a new Little Brother profile in your launcher and have it set to Minecraft 1.7.10 -- run the game at least once to download the necessary Version files.
- Download Forge 10.13.2.1291 for Minecraft v1.7.10 and run the installer.
- Back in the Little Brother profile, set the Game Directory to a new folder of your choice and the Use Version to the new Forge for 1.7.10, and run the game. This will allow game files (including the /mods folder) for this Little Brother profile to be created in a separate folder, thus eliminating the risk of overwriting your standard Big Sister files in the main Minecraft directory.
- Download Minecraft Comes Alive [MCA] 5.0.6 and RadixCore 2.0.2 for Minecraft 1.7.10:
http://www.radix-shock.com/mca--download.html - Download Mo Creatures v6.3.1 and Custom MobSpawner 3.3.0 for Minecraft 1.7.10:
http://mocreatures.org/downloads - Download Mo Villages v1.3.1 for Minecraft 1.7.10:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/2525968-forge-172-164-sspsmp-mo-villages-villages-in-more-biomes/ - Download Morph Beta v0.9.1 and iChunUtil v4.2.2 for Minecraft 1.7.10:
http://ichun.us/mods/morph/#
http://ichun.us/mods/ichunutil/ - Download Mr. Crayfish's Furniture Mod v3.4.7 for Minecraft 1.7.10:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1282349-mrcrayfishs-furniture-mod-v3-4-7-the-kitchen - Download Chocolate Quest 1.0 for Minecraft 1.7.10:
http://chocolatequest.wikia.com/wiki/Chocolate_Quest_Mod_Installation - Copy the above mod to your /mods folder inside the custom folder you specified in the Little Brother profile's Game Directory.
- Load the game using the Little Brother profile, add littlebrother.mcserver.ws into your Multiplayer list, and enjoy!
And that's it!
It might be a little complicated installing so many mods, but rest assured that adventure and digital socialization and morphing into bunnies awaits!!! So go nuts! XD

Welcome Commissioner Hannah!!!
Hello all!
I'm proud to announce that Hannah has been promoted to the rank of Commissioner, and after completing a superb run as one of our finest Deputies!
There is an old saying about not judging a book by its cover, and Hannah I feel exemplifies this immensely. When I first met her she seemed like so many of the applicants at the time... aloof, timid, unfocused and needy, with a subpar whitelist application, and a knack for attracting unwanted attention. We even had one or two altercations during the first few weeks she was there, and she was often missing for huge swathes of time, so there was no indication whatsoever that she would have amounted to anything. Thankfully, I was wrong, or rather vindicated in my belief that good communication can solve many problems, and in her case Hannah ended up being a wonderful communicator. Even when she did not have to, she still kept in contact with me, still tried her best to be a model player, and did her utmost to follow my advice for self-help whenever possible.
And that I feel is where Hannah's remarkable strength lies... she is a phenomenal listener. It was through her willingness to listen, and apply the knowledge she learned to better herself, that she was able to initiate a remarkable transformation over the past year, more than could be explained by natural growth and maturity. She has healed herself of various preconditions, and has grown less anxious, more talkative, more self-confident and more outgoing. She has grown even more communicative and assertive than ever before, to the point where friends and family alike no longer recognize her (and for all the good reasons!). These days I feel I can count on her for everything from a quick construction favour on the server, to a though-provoking and fulfilling conversation about any matter of topic. Where once she deemed herself incapable of ever becoming even a Deputy rank, she surprised even herself when she earned that qualification far head of schedule. And as a Deputy, she's done a stellar job and is among the ranks of one of the most proactive staff members I've ever known, both publicly and privately in the staff section. It's thanks to her boundless determination and incredible support that I have been able to restructure my project allocations and staff perks, improving efficiencies and making it more rewarding than ever to assist with server management.
Truly, she has been a major catalyst for change, as well as an excellent friend to many of us that have given her the chance to shine; and it's due to her impressive accomplishments that I was overjoyed to have her as part of my team. Now that she's outshined even a Deputy's position, and proved herself to be an individual trustworthy of greater powers, I feel it's only fitting to uncap her potential even further by nominating her for a Commissioner position. May her new privileges and responsibilities allow her to explore new venues for personal growth, as well as mark a new phase of growth for our server and its community!

I want to thank everyone who directly or indirectly helped Hannah grow over the year she's been on this server. Thanks to you, she loves this server very much, enough to give so much of her time and effort to keep it awesome. ^^
And of course, I want to thank Hannah personally for never giving up, for being a great listener, and for ultimately choosing to believe in herself with great success!
You did it! And now it's time to DREAM BIGGER!
