Alo people!!

WE HAVE A SERVER TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!  :D

Thanks to everyone who participated in making this beautiful video an incredible piece of work, and especially Shadow for bringing it all together!  It truly illustrates the best that our server has to offer, both in its content and in the amazing people that visit it!  Thank you all so much! ^^

Oh, and since I did the last photo shot, here it is below in color.  :)

Out With the Old, In With the New!

Alo peoplez!

As a different change of pace from all the biome importing, I opted to continue furthering our New Cheese economy instead!  Not only is the Macro Mart now fully stocked with New Cheese items (including all the colored wool you could ever want!), but now the ENTIRETY of the DRC Spawn shop has been converted to New Cheese as well!  So if you're looking forward to buying that stack of Stone for two Old Cheese, don't be surprised if it won't take your money.  In fact, it wants two New Cheese!  :)

And just as a testament to how easy this is to set up using this new module, I converted the whole store in about an hour's worth of time (give a take a ton of distractions) -- very good considering the original redstone machines took days to create and calibrate.  ;P

As an added bonus, the old Dravics Cheese and Head ATM which was previously decommissioned has now be restored and modernized to serve as our world's second New Cheese ATM!!

here you'll find not only the usual withdraw/deposit Cheese/Blue Cheese set up, but as a small nod to the Dravic's economy of yesteryear, it can also let you cash in "Rupees' (aka, emeralds) and Steve heads too!  Granted these are regional trades and not "real" server money anymore, so expect to get back a LOT less than what these items are actually worth -- but anyone begging for low-denomination currency item will probably appreciate these very much.  :)

The next modernization effort will take place in Spawnington, so expect to see some massive changes in the bank soon.  [for one, the diamond, emerald and gold shops will be moved to the future jewelry store across the street].  :P

And then after that... the sky's the limit.  :)

We Did The Monster Mash!!

Hello peoplez!

Well isn't this a gorgeous moonlit shot of hell on Earth?  :P

Anyway, as some of you may already know, we have officially unveiled Monster Island on the server, a huge island FAR east of Spawnington riddled with smoldering terrain, infested wastelands and deadly volcanoes.  Just the kind of place countless mobs and Nether visitors would call home!

It's generally safe to visit during the day when most monsters (save for hideous silverfish and a few slimes), like to sleep... but once the sun is down, expect things to get very nutty very fast.  Monster Island is definitely not for the weak of heart; think of it as one giant hardcore dungeon for those seeking adventure and danger.  Standard sightseers need not apply.  XD

What do we intend to do on Monster Island?  Why, whole mob towns and cities, of course!  Already I've imported a Dark Tower from Twilight Forest and a clean Nether Fortress to serve as the pseudo-downtown area ofMonster Island.  It's up to YOU brave and/or clever folk to help complete even more monster structures, be they simple zombie pigmen villages, or a bustling necropolis.  Already we've had some enterprising players create makeshift dungeons deep within the ground -- its this kind of death-defying imagination that will help make Monster Island awesome!  A place where artists who bask in pain and suffering can express themselves freely.  >v<

Meanwhile, I've done pretty much all I've could for Monster Island.  After this, I'll probably take a small break of biome imports and get back to my beloved Spawnington.  <3

In the meantime, keep doing the Mash... :D

Dammit Winter!!!

And here I was thinking it was already spring, and I could enjoy a little leisurely stroll through the park when suddenly... GLACIER!!!

FREAKIN' GLACIER!!! XD

And plus on the glacier seems like a wannabe Fortress of Solitude.  But I won't investigate because honestly... I'm so sick of winter!!  >v<

But you're welcomed to find this glacier biome on your own!  It's actually the closest to Spawnington of all the imported biomes, and VERY hard to miss in isometric view.  :)

UPDATED TO 1.7.X!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!  WE UPDATED TO GULLIVER 1.7-- er, wait... there is no version for 1.7 yet,... So what am I looking at?  >v>

....

Oh well, I guess we just kinda/sorta have a Mesa Biome just like that.  Don't worry about finding it on Dynmap, it's REALLY easy to spot (just find huge chunks of red in the landscape).  :P

The Everchanging Landscape

Oh the nice pristine air, sweet smell of pine, and glorious cascades of the Mountain biome!  And we didn't even have to install Biomes O Plenty to get this.  It is now merged into our world, as natural as any native biome, and this is definitely just the beginning.

Over the next few weeks I will continue to import other great biomes and structures from many of our favorite mods, some of which have even been tried out in Little Brother (e.g., the Twilight Forest Lich Tower).  This is to ensure that our world is teeming with interesting sights and sounds to see besides just player towns; to truly make it a joy to traverse the land on foot or horseback.  Our server landscape will be like no other.  :)

In other news, the great Tarig has released his latest patch update to the Forge Essentials suite of server management tools, which has been released and deployed to the server today!  This release addresses the following, among other things:

  • Gulliver Commands can now be designated by permissions
  • Deputies and Commissioners now have Gulliver Commands at their disposal, including /basesize which they can now use to resize themselves or other players.
  • Commissioners now have access to some of the former opped tools which previously didnt work (e.g, /whitelist).
  • A few stability updates were added to the tp commands
  • The Economy module commands are now working properly, allowing us to resume work on converting our currency to New Cheese -- as of this writing, the Macro Mart is back in business once more.  :)
At this point I feel we have everything we ever wanted from our original vision, and that makes me very happy!  Hopefully we can get to hear even MORE good news in other fronts this week.  :)

And lastly, since apparently torches cause lag (a particle effect thing), we will soon begin the initiative to continue modernizing spawnington, and replace torches with either glowstone or jack-o=lanterns.  throughout the city.  This will hopefully some of the lag issues we continue to have at spawn.

Thank you.  :)

Massive Weeds

Hey all!

Wow!  I don't know WHERE in Dynmap this is, but sure does look like the weeds are growing sky high!  Literally!  XD

I wonder where they came from?  Maybe this is in singleplayer?  Surely these can't grow on our server, right?  Teehee!  :P

The Cheesy Economic Revolution

Hello peoplez!

We have resisted this for a while due to A) allowing some time for us to get used to the core Forge Essential modules, before trying out experimental ones, and B) because we wanted to keep our Cheese shops as close to vanilla as possible, to avoid upgrading issues when transitioning to some future server technology.

The former resolved itself over time as we've grown used to what Forge Essentials has to offer us; the latter became a  moot point after a few Cheese Shops began to malfunction due to the different way that meta data is handled in the new /give command.  So either way we had to go through SOME trouble to convert these; ergo, why not spend just a bit more time, and learn to reinvent the wheel properly?  :)

And so that's what we did in enabling the Economy Module, and setting up a test site in the Glasgrow Macro Mart to start using "New Cheese"... or Cheese based off the Economy Module rather than the Vanilla Scoreboard.  "New" Cheese won't outright replace "Old" Cheese -- in fact, if you hit TAB, you may still see the same Cheese count as before.  In fact, our rollout of "New" is expected to be slow and gradual, with several opportunities to convert Old Cheese into New Cheese using the upcoming ATM machines that will be found throughout the server.  In this way, your Old Cheese count will gradually reduce to nothing -- and once no one uses it, then it can be safely retired into the background.  ^^

Again, the first test case for New Cheese is in the Macro Mart, where all items that can be purchased off-the-shelf are now purchasable using New Cheese.  Towards the northern side of the Macro Mart is also our first Cheese ATM Machine, blown up in proportion to match the inhabitants of this 8x town.  Using the ATM Machine you can withdraw ("buy") Cheese, or even the new Blue Cheese (which is a slightly higher denomination); here you can also deposit ("sell") both Cheese blocks and Blue Cheese blocks, so you can finally see immediate return on your savings by being able to trade more than just Cheese and XP.

So you as a player you will benefit by having a more dynamic currency system that will allow for helpful features such as selling items.  At long last you may finally be able to monetize all those piles and piles of cobble you've accumulated in future collection sights  And while TAB will no longer publicly display your Cheese count for the whole world to see, you can still see how much Cheese you have by typing either /wallet or /money.  :)

As for staff... the incredible simplicity should make it far more possible for other mods to pitch in, as now a shop can be made with one simple command block, rather than several in some large redstone contraption surrounded by a bedrock shell.  Selling is now a cinch as well, whereas previously it required the gigantic Cheezinator 9000 just to let you sell your Cheese Blocks back. Lastly, this approach is far cleaner and more secure, since it only uses one command block, and thus doesn't require a large area to build a contraption and protect it from theft.

It's a pure win-win for all, and I hope you will join us in welcoming New Cheese to our server! During the next two weeks we will be converting other shops to New Cheese, in addition to setting up ATM Machines throughout the world.   If you want to convert your Old Cheese into New Cheese, simply buy Cheese blocks at the bank (or Lapis Blocks, aka "Blue Cheese" at the market), and deposit these into your nearest ATM machine.

If you have any questions, please let us know in-game or on the forum!

Thank you very much!

Plan B From Outer Space!

Alo people!

Our server host is having issues with their subdomain system, so currently some of you may have issues connecting to the server(s), or viewing it from Dynmap.

If you're affected by this, you can use the direct Server IPs as backups:

Big Sister
198.154.102.151

Little Brother
209.105.245.230

Big Sister Dynmap
http://198.154.102.151:8123/

And for TabbyChat, all you need is to duplicate the folder for "bigsister.mcserver.ws" and rename the duplicate as "198.154.102.151".

Good luck.  :D

Dimensional Dementia

Hello all.

I am pleased to announce the availability of the March Flavor for Little Brother!
Although we wanted to marry Aether with Biomes O Plenty and Mo Creatures, it turned out the former was not compatible and the latter refused to work nicely in anything but 1.6.4 (Aether is currently stuck in 1.6.2, just like we are).  Therefore, we've set up the following dimension-heavy mod arrangement to compensate for the missed expectations:

  • Aether II is still the primary mod in this flavor
  • To compensate for the loss of Biomes O Plenty, ExtraBiomesXL will be used to liven up the Overworld.
  • To compensate for the loss of Mo Creatures', the ancient Twilight Forest is available to satisfy your creature delights.
  • The map is an original vanilla world auto-generated by the server
  • AudreyAwesome, InvisibleDragon and Lizeli9 will be joined by ConnoCreeper14, the March Monthly Moderator.
  • There will be no demolition day and rules will be decided during the course of the month.
  • We may or may not experiment with some variations of this flavor, such as the addition of the Morph Mod.

For Installation:

  1. Download Aether II Alpha, PlayerCoreAPI and ThreadLighting:
    http://aether.craftnode.me/launcher/versions/1.6.2.2/aether.jar
    http://aether.craftnode.me/launcher/versions/1.6.2.2/playercoreapi.jar
    http://aether.craftnode.me/launcher/versions/1.6.2.2/threadedlighting.jar

  2. Download Twilight Forest v1.19.3 for Minecraft 1.6.2:
    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/561673-164-the-twilight-forest-v1203-haunting-of-the-knight-phantoms/

  3. Download ExtraBiomesXL v3.14.1 for Minecraft 1.6.2:
    https://googledrive.com/host/0B9BVWyKm6iSAdHJyQTh0SGVoRm8/Minecraft%201.6.2/

  4. Copy all the mods listed above to your minecraft/mods folder.

  5. The Forge version is the exact same 1.6.2 version we use currently for Gulliver on Big Sister, so no special downloads are needed.  You could try loading the game with Gulliver Forged, or, for safety, you can aunch the game using the "Forge" profile and make sure the Use Version is set to "release 1.6.2-Forge9.10.1.871"

Good luck on your epic dimensional journey, adventurers!!  :D
