The Cheesy Economic Revolution

Hello peoplez!

We have resisted this for a while due to A) allowing some time for us to get used to the core Forge Essential modules, before trying out experimental ones, and B) because we wanted to keep our Cheese shops as close to vanilla as possible, to avoid upgrading issues when transitioning to some future server technology.

The former resolved itself over time as we've grown used to what Forge Essentials has to offer us; the latter became a  moot point after a few Cheese Shops began to malfunction due to the different way that meta data is handled in the new /give command.  So either way we had to go through SOME trouble to convert these; ergo, why not spend just a bit more time, and learn to reinvent the wheel properly?  :)

And so that's what we did in enabling the Economy Module, and setting up a test site in the Glasgrow Macro Mart to start using "New Cheese"... or Cheese based off the Economy Module rather than the Vanilla Scoreboard.  "New" Cheese won't outright replace "Old" Cheese -- in fact, if you hit TAB, you may still see the same Cheese count as before.  In fact, our rollout of "New" is expected to be slow and gradual, with several opportunities to convert Old Cheese into New Cheese using the upcoming ATM machines that will be found throughout the server.  In this way, your Old Cheese count will gradually reduce to nothing -- and once no one uses it, then it can be safely retired into the background.  ^^

Again, the first test case for New Cheese is in the Macro Mart, where all items that can be purchased off-the-shelf are now purchasable using New Cheese.  Towards the northern side of the Macro Mart is also our first Cheese ATM Machine, blown up in proportion to match the inhabitants of this 8x town.  Using the ATM Machine you can withdraw ("buy") Cheese, or even the new Blue Cheese (which is a slightly higher denomination); here you can also deposit ("sell") both Cheese blocks and Blue Cheese blocks, so you can finally see immediate return on your savings by being able to trade more than just Cheese and XP.

So you as a player you will benefit by having a more dynamic currency system that will allow for helpful features such as selling items.  At long last you may finally be able to monetize all those piles and piles of cobble you've accumulated in future collection sights  And while TAB will no longer publicly display your Cheese count for the whole world to see, you can still see how much Cheese you have by typing either /wallet or /money.  :)

As for staff... the incredible simplicity should make it far more possible for other mods to pitch in, as now a shop can be made with one simple command block, rather than several in some large redstone contraption surrounded by a bedrock shell.  Selling is now a cinch as well, whereas previously it required the gigantic Cheezinator 9000 just to let you sell your Cheese Blocks back. Lastly, this approach is far cleaner and more secure, since it only uses one command block, and thus doesn't require a large area to build a contraption and protect it from theft.

It's a pure win-win for all, and I hope you will join us in welcoming New Cheese to our server! During the next two weeks we will be converting other shops to New Cheese, in addition to setting up ATM Machines throughout the world.   If you want to convert your Old Cheese into New Cheese, simply buy Cheese blocks at the bank (or Lapis Blocks, aka "Blue Cheese" at the market), and deposit these into your nearest ATM machine.

If you have any questions, please let us know in-game or on the forum!

Thank you very much!
